STAMP COLLECTING has been a hobby since the first postage stamps were issued in the year 1840. I started collecting when I was a schoolboy and, I was always fascinated by the beautifully engraved tiny pictures, and the brilliant colors of the designers and printers of this artwork. The stamps also gave me a free lesson of the peoples and countries of the world.
There are all kinds of ways of collecting; some people have THEMATIC collections only, which is the assembling of stamps on one subject only, such as: Flowers, Birds, Animals, Fish or Transport etc; it is amazing the countless permutations if you collect in this way. Myself, I collect almost everything, although, I draw the line at stamps depicting animal cruelty such as bullfighting and fox-hunting.
